InterDC Enschede

InterDC is our own datacenter, which we set up together with our sister company InterRacks. InterDC Enschede is located directly next to our office. In InterDC Enschede and Hengelo we have multiple racks in use, and most of our equipment is hosted here.

InterDC is a regional datacenter primarily focused on businesses in Twente and Eastern Netherlands. It can also serve as a perfect disaster recovery location for Amsterdam. InterDC is located 44 meters above sea level, while most datacenters in and around Amsterdam are below sea level. InterDC Enschede consists of 2 data halls with a total capacity of 400m² and can host up to 100 racks. The facility is certified with ISO27001, NEN7510, and TIER3.

The datacenter is secured by cameras installed both inside and outside. The cameras feature infrared motion detection so they can also operate in the dark. Access to the datacenter and data halls is controlled by an electronic identification system with a unique pass per visitor. This pass is linked to a unique PIN code, providing “Two-Factor Authentication” for maximum security.

All motion sensors, doors, lights, and cameras are connected to a building management system. This system continuously monitors status and immediately triggers an alarm when an anomaly is detected.

The InterDC Enschede datacenter

The datacenter is equipped with a 3-phase N+1 UPS system from Eaton. This system continuously monitors the power supply of the data hall. In case of a power outage, servers can be powered by the UPS system for up to 10 minutes. During a power failure, the backup generator starts automatically. It takes about 30 seconds to reach full operation and take over the entire power supply.

Each rack is equipped with two separate 16-amp power feeds (no-break).

The data hall uses modern VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) laser detectors. VESDA is a system that can detect fire at a very early stage and triggers an alarm via the building management system. CO2 extinguishers and smoke detectors are installed outside the data hall.

The temperature on the data floor is maintained at 24°C (±2°C). The datacenter uses multiple Uniflair air conditioning units. When the target temperature is reached, the units automatically reduce their output to minimize power usage while maintaining stable conditions.

At InterDC we operate our own network. This location is connected to our 80 Gbit/s ring and has the following internet uplinks:

- 1 Gbit/s NDIX
