InterDC Hengelo

In 2019, InterDC opened a new location in Hengelo. This location is fully used by us as a twin/backup site for InterDC Enschede.

InterDC Hengelo is located in the city center of Hengelo and is divided into 2 data halls with a total capacity of 150m². This provides a total capacity of 80 racks. The data center holds certifications such as ISO27001, NEN7510 and TIER3.

Security

The data center is secured by (HD) cameras and infrared sensors installed both inside and outside. Access to the data center and server rooms is controlled by an electronic identification system consisting of a unique badge per visitor. This badge is linked to a unique PIN code, which is also called “Two-Factor Authentication”.

Both motion sensors, doors, lights and cameras are connected to a building management system. This system monitors the status day and night and will immediately trigger an alarm if any abnormality is detected.

(Emergency) Power

The data center is equipped with a 3-phase N+1 UPS system from Eaton. This system continuously monitors the power supply of the server room. In case of a power failure, the servers can be powered by the UPS system for 10 minutes. In the event of a power outage, the emergency generator starts automatically. It takes about 30 seconds to reach full speed and take over the entire power supply.

Each rack is equipped with 3 separate 16-amp power feeds (non-interruptible power).

Fire Protection

The data room uses modern VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) laser detectors. VESDA is a system that detects fire at a very early stage and triggers an alarm via the building management system. In the rooms outside the data hall, CO2 extinguishers and smoke detectors are installed.

Air Conditioning

The data center uses a dry-cooler system that utilizes outside air temperature to cool the servers. On days when it gets too warm outside, the air conditioning system switches back to traditional cooling.

The temperature on the data floor is maintained at 24 degrees (± 2°C). The data center uses multiple York air conditioning units.
