InterDC Enschede Marssteden

InterDC Marssteden is the third datacenter of InterDC. This location is situated on the Marssteden business park, approximately 3.5 km from the first location. It was previously known as Twents Datacenter. The facility is ISO27001, NEN7510, and Tier 3 certified. The Tier 3 standard means that all components of the datacenter (power, cooling, and fiber) are fully redundant, resulting in a minimum availability of 99.982%.

The datacenter consists of 2 data halls with a total surface area of 75m², providing space for 30 racks. Unlike our other datacenters, this facility does not have a raised floor. Cooling is implemented using in-row cooling units. The racks are arranged in a hot and cold aisle configuration. Cabling is neatly routed above the racks in cable trays.

Security

The datacenter is secured by cameras installed both inside and outside. The cameras feature infrared night vision so they can detect movement even in the dark. Access to the datacenter and data halls is controlled by an electronic identification system using a unique pass per visitor. This pass is linked to a unique PIN code, providing "Two-Factor Authentication" for maximum security.
All motion sensors, doors, lights, and cameras are connected to a building management system. This system continuously monitors status and immediately triggers an alarm when any anomaly is detected. It also monitors critical infrastructure such as data hall temperature, power supply, and fire alarms.

(Emergency) Power

The datacenter is equipped with a 3-phase N+1 UPS system from Rittal. This system continuously monitors the power supply of the data hall. In the event of a power outage, servers can be powered by the UPS system for up to 10 minutes. During a power failure, the backup generator starts automatically. It takes about 30 seconds to reach full operation and take over the entire power supply.
Each rack is equipped with two separate 16-amp power feeds (no-break) and can be expanded with an additional feed if more capacity is required.

Fire Safety

The data hall uses modern VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) laser detectors. VESDA is a system that can detect fire at a very early stage and triggers an alarm via the building management system. The facility is equipped with Novec 1230 fire suppression, which automatically extinguishes any fire. This gas is safe for humans, although it is recommended to leave the room before activation.

Air Conditioning

The datacenter uses free-air cooling. For most of the year, outside temperatures are low enough to be used for cooling. When temperatures exceed 20°C, the system automatically switches to traditional air conditioning.

The temperature is maintained at approximately 24°C.

Own datacenter connectivity

From this datacenter we have fiber connections to 3 different geo-orientations:

- InterDC Enschede
- InterDC Hengelo
- InterDC Doetinchem
