Equinix has become the world's largest operator of data centers. We have opened a location in one of their Amsterdam facilities: AM2. This Equinix facility is located near Amsterdam Science Park, allowing us to connect to the data center through multiple dark fiber links.
The data center is protected 24/7 through cameras and security sensors. Access is granted only after identity verification and the use of an electronic access card. The facility complies with all modern security standards.
The data center is certified according to ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 standards. In addition, the facility is SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II certified.
The data center features an N+1 UPS system, meaning there is always one additional UPS unit available for redundancy. In the event of a power outage, these systems immediately take over. Within seconds, multiple backup generators with a combined capacity of 17,100 KVA automatically start to ensure uninterrupted power delivery.
The data center is built according to the Tier III standard and holds the ISO 9001 quality certification.
Equinix uses an aspirating smoke detection system that detects potential fires at a very early stage. Fire suppression is handled through a water mist system, which extinguishes fires without damaging equipment.
The temperature on the data floor is maintained at 24°C (75°F). Cooling is based on an N+1 redundancy model, meaning an additional air conditioning unit is always available should another unit fail.
At Equinix, we operate our own network infrastructure. Our 1.6 Tbps network ring terminates at this location and includes the following connections:
